Carnaval!

It's Carnaval! (Or Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras)

The girls dressed up in costumes and took cascarones to school (empty egg shells painted and filled with confetti). They will crack the eggs on their classmates' heads and come home with confetti in their hair. (Two years ago, I wrote about this in more detail).
Doc McStuffins and Minnie Mouse
This morning we ran out of gas halfway through my shower on what I was told is the "coldest day of the year in Guatemala."

Without gas, we couldn't finish cooking our pot of oatmeal on the stove, so we used it as an excuse to have a little family breakfast outing before school. It helped that Ruby woke us up at 5am and we were all dressed and ready to go by 7.

Feliz Dia de Carnaval!
